“Miss Earth is much more than just a beauty pageant, it’s also an international environmental campaign.” said Wanthanabhadee Jittanukroh, the CEO of the organizer PD Creation Co., Ltd., in an interview after the press conference on July 20, 2011 at the Kirimaya Resort in Khao Yai, Nakhon Ratchasima.
This year, Thailand is honored to be the host country for Miss Earth 2011 with the theme “Smile for Earth, for All”. Aligning with the International Year of the Forests, this year’s staging of the Miss Earth pageant is expected to be a grand showcase of Thailand’s rich culture, tourist spots, and, more importantly, its efforts to save and protect the environment.
This project is concerned with environmental protection. It’s also an international event that will include a tribute to His Majesty the King on the occasion of his 84th birthday anniversary. We usually organize an activity, ‘Khon Thai Jai Phakdi’(We love our king) for the King every year and this year, we’ll be drawing the attention of people all over the world to his abilities. He is the only royal to have received the International Merit Award, an award for environmental preservation, in recognition of his theory about “Ya Faek“ (vetiver grass).
Miss Earth 2011, the 11th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, is scheduled to be held on November 12, 2011 in Thailand, one of Asia’s largest tourism destinations. Miss Earth 2010, Nicole Faria of India will crown her successor at the end of the event.
